Airplane Trip

It is a long long trip to South Africa.  We will actually spend two nights in airplanes each way. We decided to cash in all of our frequent flyer miles and travel in First Class.  This is quite a change for those of us who usually consider Days Inn to be luxurious.  A real highlight is a fully reclining bed. Should make traveling very nice!! We decided that if you have to use your miles for something, it may as well be a LONG flight.  Another added bonus will be the first class lounge in Heathrow- where we have to wait for hours before boarding another flight to South Africa.

Adventure 2008

Phil and I are heading for Africa during July.  Many friends have asked us to blog as we go.  This will not always be possible, but we will attempt to keep up a blog whenever we can.
The primary purpose for our trip is so that Phil can present at an international conference in Johannesburg.  Phil will be leaving later this week in order to attend an Iron Formations Workshop that will be offered prior to the conference.  I will join him in a week.  We will be staying at the Misty Hills Conference Center - While Phil is attending the conference, I will be taking advantage of the "affiliated persons" tours.  This will be very exciting for me, because I have never been to South Africa.  Each day will have special tours including one day to Soweto and another day to Maropeng and the Cradle of Humankind.
Then we will leave South Africa and fly to Namibia where we will be taking a 12 day safari. This tour has been specifically designed with our interests in mind.  We will travel with our own guide.  We will stay in simple accomodations (hence limited internet).
Hopefully you will join us virtually.
